BTE Style
Behind-the-ear (BTE) hearing devices are the type of hearing aids you probably imagine when you think about hearing aids. These devices house all the components of the hearing aid in a sleek case that sits behind the ear. A small, clear tube runs from the top of your ear to a small earpiece in your ear canal to direct sound into your ear. This is a great device for people of any age, and has a powerful battery that can treat even profound hearing loss.
RIC Style
Receiver-in-canal (RIC) hearing aids are similar to BTE devices. The amplifier and microphone components of the hearing aid are nestled behind the ear. A small wire connects the outer part of the device to the receiver, which sits in the ear canal. These devices are slightly smaller than BTE hearing aids, and can be used to treat moderate to severe hearing loss.
ITE Style
In-the-ear (ITE) hearing devices house the entire hearing aid in the outer part of the ear. Recommended for those who suffer from mild to severe hearing loss, these devices have a great battery life, and can be wirelessly connected to your smartphone to easily switch between programs and control settings.
ITC Style
In-the-canal (ITC) hearing aids are much smaller than BTE or ITE devices, and the entire hearing aid sits in the ear canal. Only the top of the device visible, and they’re custom molded to fit the contours of your ear canal. You can easily connect ITC hearing aids to your smartphone for wireless streaming and effortless control.
CIC Style
Completely-in-canal (CIC) hearing aids and invisible-in-canal (IIC) devices sit even further in the ear canal for the most discreet hearing treatment. These devices have a smaller battery, and are recommended for those with mild to moderate hearing loss. IIC hearing aids are placed deep within the canal, and can be worn for several weeks without being removed. Since this hearing aid doesn’t block the outer ear or ear canal, the ear can naturally funnel and amplify sounds, and you’ll enjoy less distortion or feedback.
Digital Hearing Devices
Most of today’s hearing aids are digital hearing aids, and these provide far better hearing than analog hearing aids. Analog devices amplify sounds, and your ears will receive all the sounds around you at a louder volume. Digital hearing aids go through an extra step to digitize sound, so you can enjoy features like background noise reduction, speech enhancement, or feedback cancelation. Benefits of a digital hearing aids include:
Connectivity Features
One of the best features of modern hearing aids is full connectivity using Bluetooth technology. You can seamlessly connect your smartphone, computer, tablet, TV, or any other Bluetooth enabled device to effortlessly stream audio right to your ears. With the best in wireless connectivity, you can stream audio from the electronic devices you use the most. Your hearing aids will also be able to communicate with each other, and you’ll hear the sound from your phone in both ears. Connectivity features include:
